Focuses on various techniques - both old and new - used to create decorative surfaces on cast-in-place concrete slabs. Over 150 color photographs illustrate the rich variation in color and texture possible on concrete surfaces. Divided into six sections, step by step instructions demonstrate the construction procedures (1) exposed-aggregate finishes; (2) textured finishes such as floated, broomed, travertine, rock salt and nonslip finishes; (3) stamped and inlaid impressions, as well as divider strips, scoring and sawing; (4) colored finishes, including integral colors, dry shakes, and stains; (5) proper jointing and curing practices; and (6) combinations of color and texture to create attractive surfaces.
